Hey, You Wanna Watch a Movie??

Updated: May 20, 2022

We all love going to the movies and seeing the latest blockbuster hit. Some people wait in line just to see a midnight premiere of the latest introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while others are chomping at the bit to see the newest horror flick.

Well if you do enjoy a nice trip to the movies, the latest installation in upcoming Michigan based artist K$tg's discography takes you on just the journey you need.

Aptly titled Life is Like A Movie, it is apparent that the album has a very defined vision: to take you to the movies. The album starts with an eerie introduction track that really sets the scene for the whole mood as you begin the listening experience. Quickly transitioning into the truly opening track "In a Minute" helps continue to immerse you in a feeling that this is just the beginning of the journey, as K$tg repeatedly tells you that his time is coming soon.

The next run of songs is one of the best stretches of the album. In this stretch we see features from 4 other artists, which are the majority of features on the whole project. Starting with the thematically named "Tarantino," featuring fellow Michigan artist NateOneAndOnly as well as a hook that's criminally repeatable. Clever lines and great production by both parties make this a standout track.

Not to be outdone, Michigan's own BigBeirut hopped on the track in "The Robbers," a track in which they both remind you that although they have fun, they are nothing to be messed with. The next 2 songs also have a feature, including the song "Fear and Loathing" which is accompanied by our very own video.

In the next stretch, there are songs that are completely meant for parties, some meant for people battling demons, and even some that are meant to just be a surreal journey for the listener.

This is where we get to what is currently my favorite song on the album, "Scream!" The song, once again following the movie theme features samples from the original film in a beautifully constructed beat by Michigan producer DANNY G. With such an amazing beat, K$tg was the perfect artist to help bring the mix of punchlines and delivery to help craft a hit.

"THOUSAND DOLLAR OUTFIT EVERTIME I BE WALKING OUT" is the line of the album for me. This song is an absolute must listen.

The 12th track, titled "This Song Doesn't Have A Title But This The Title" is another one of my favorites on the album and happens to be another that has a stunning visual, this time directed by Michigan based videographer EYEMEDIATRE.

In the last 3 tracks we travel to space with a feature from Don Marion before we wrap up with a melancholy outro track matching the title of the album. Luckily for us movie goers that stay after the credits for easter eggs, K$tg spoiled us with one more hidden gem after the outro, this time leaning into old school sci-fi vibes with "Aliens," produced by Michigan engineer NRTH.

Overall, this is a very thoroughly and well thought out project that leaves us all excited to see what's next for K! With 15 tracks of differing styles, there’s a little something for everyone!
